Practical & Easy To Use

The Janome 224A is a portable lightweight machine with a front-loading bobbin case and easily converts to free arm by removing the detachable storage box.

Easy to thread and operate, this 2-dial machine is simplicity itself. Sew an automatic buttonhole, straight stitch, zigzag stitch, or one of the other stitches using the stitch selector and choose the most appropriate stitch length using the stitch length dial. There are also 7 stretch stitches to choose from.

Free Arm

The convenient free arm allows easy access to difficult areas and is ideal for sewing sleeves and trouser legs.

What we love

The Janome 224 is good value for the price point. It's a sturdy machine that wont jump around the table when being used. It has no trouble sewing jeans, including those bulky seams, with the right technique. It handles finer fabrics with ease. Unlike most machines at this price point you can control your stitch length and stitch width on the zig zag stitch which makes it useful for all types of sewing. Its a great machine as a backup for alterations, starting your dressmaking journey or teaching children how to sew. It has been a popular machine for free motion sewist due to the front loading bobbin but the disadvantage is the feed dogs cannot be dropped, you are supplied with a cover to go over the feed dogs. What would make this machine perfect is a needle threader!
