What we love
The Brother PQ1600s is a recent addition to the Brother range, filling in the gap for a heavy duty machine that is suitable to dressmakers, crafters and quilters. Its one of the machines closest to an industrial machine you will find in the domestic market. It has a speed of up to 1500 stitches per minute and a great right of needle space both in width and height making quilting easier or sewing those bulky wedding dresses.
For those difficult fabrics for example, slippery satins, sliding velvets, fine silks, it has added assistance in the form of feed dog adjustment to help. Unique to the PQ1600S is the pin feed feet which moves up into your fabric at the same time as your feed dogs and moves in sync for perfect feeding of layers and heavy projects.
It is a flat bed machine so you will need to adjust how you sew sleeves etc if you are used to a free arm to assist you and it is only a straight stitch machine so you will need your overlocker to help complete your sewing projects if you are a dressmaker.
It has a telescopic thread path which means you are able to use the larger spools of thread and comes with a selection of feet. It has a pivoted standard foot making it easier to sew bulky fabrics whether you are a quilter or dressmaker. It also comes with a rolled hem foot, ¼ foot, free motion foot, fabric separator, zipper foot and even a concealed zipper foot so you have all the basic feet you need to get going no matter what your project is. To top it all, it comes with a very large extension table.
So, if you are someone who is used to an industrial machine but doesn't want the bulky table or looking for a more portable version of an industrial machine than the Brother PQ1600s is certainly worth the consideration.
