"SMD by Janome"
A range of machines where each model is selected only if it meets our "SMD by Janome" three point criteria - ease of use, reliability, and of course, excellent value for money!
Limited funds? Keeping to a budget? The SMD1000 is the answer....why pay someone else when you can do it yourself?
The SMD1000 comes with many of the features incorporated into more expensive mid range machines...but without the expensive mid range price tag!
Separate length and width dials means that stitches are fully adjustable and any of the 24 stitches can be easily selected using the stitch dial on the front of the machine.
With step by step instructions written as if you have little sewing experience, the "SMD by Janome" SMD1000 is suitable for the novice as well as the more experienced sewer.
Ease Of Use
The threading of the SMD1000 cannot be simpler. Simply follow the thread path on the top of the machine, as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4 and thru the needle. The clearly defined path is numbered at each threading point and when you reach the needle, the built in needle threader will thread it for you.
The choice of built in stitches is conveniently displayed on the front of the machine. Length and width can be adjusted independently to suit the stitch and fabric type and buttonholes are stitched out in one easy step. Each one to automatically match the size of the button. For free arm sewing, simply remove the storage box attached to the front of the machine and you can now sew trouser hems, sleeves, etc, much easier.
Two pull up/push down vertical spools pins, ideal for creative twin needle can be recessed for safe storage and talking of creativity, the SMD1000 has a drop feed for free hand embroidery.
The Janome reputation for reliability is legendary and well documented. The Janome brand was established in 1935 and in 1936, opened the first mass production factory for domestic sewing machines in Japan. Janome designed and manufactured the first programmable computer sewing machine back in 1979 and launched the first domestic computerised hoop embroidery machine in 1990.
Using modern techniques, innovations and components in its current models, Janome have established themselves as the leading specialist domestic sewing machine company.
Value For Money
Compare the price and features of the SMD1000 to machines of similar specification and quality. Our opinion - NO COMPARISON!!
Superb quality and feature packed at an incredible price. An ideal starter machine or enough to spend for occasional use, you can be sure that the SMD1000 has been inspected to the same standards by the Janome Quality Control department as the top end embroidery machines.
Dressmaking, repairs, alterations, even soft furnishings. The SMD1000 proves you don`t have to spend £100`s on a machine to be able to complete your own sewing jobs...why pay someone else when you can do it yourself?
Adjustable Length & Width
Three dials (selector, length, width) means the SMD1000 is so much more versatile than two dial or single dial models.
Easy to use one step, automatically matching the size of the button. Insert the button into the carrier, set your length and width and each one is stitched out an exact size of the other.
Extra High Foot Lifter
Bulky fabrics and multiple layers can be sewn with ease.
This feature is a real time saver. Engage the needle threader behind the needle and a small hook locates through the eye of the needle. The thread is then taken around the guide and the needle threader released. Result - a needle threaded in seconds.
For those who like to express their creativity with free hand embroidery. Drop the feed dogs leaving you in full control. Or use traditionally for darning.
Free Arm / Flat Bed
Use as conventional flat bed for general sewing tasks or remove the accessory box for free arm sewing, allowing you to easily sew sleeves, trouser legs or any "difficult to reach" areas. Use the accessory box to keep your presser feet, bobbins, needles, etc.
Quick Release Foot Holder
To change the presser foot, simply lift the foot lifter, press the release button and the foot will detach. To attach the another foot, line the foot up with the foot holder and lower the presser bar. The standard zig zag, buttonhole, zipper, and satin stitch foot are all interchangeable with the press of a button. Plus many optional feet are available.
