JQ7 Extension Table & Quilting Kit Overview

Janome Quilting Set for MC9900, Atelier 5, Atelier 6, Atelier 7 & Atelier 9

This kit contains:

  • Large extension table
  • Applique foot
  • Clear view foot
  • Ditch quilting foot
  • Convertible free-motion foot set
  • Open toe craft foot

Extra Wide Table

Attach to your sewing machine with the appropriate fixings for when you need a larger work area.

Assembling the Extra Wide Table:

  1. Peel off the backing paper from the rubber soles and attach to the bottom of the legs.
  2. Attach the 4 legs to the table top with the screws.
  3. Select the table support short or long which is suitable for your sewing machine. Attach the table support to the underside of the table top by inserting the hooks into the slots.
  4. Remove the extension table. Place the assembled table on the machine so the table catches the pin on the backside of the free arm.
  5. Adjust the height of the table top by turning the adjusting screw.

Open Toe Satin Stitch foot

The open toe allows for a better view of sewing in progress. This foot can be used in place of the satin stitch foot.

Convertible Free Motion Quilting Foot Set

For a more pleasurable free-motion quilting experience, this set includes 3 left needle position feet and 1 zigzag stitch foot (centre needle position).

Attaching the foot:

  1. Remove the foot holder and attach the free motion quilting foot. Make sure that the needle enters the hole in the foot.

Changing the sole:

  1. Raise the foot and turn the round nut to bring the sole to the lowest position.
  2. Remove the setscrew and remove the sole.
  3. Attach the desired sole and secure it with the setscrew.

Note: The clear view sole can be used for zigzag stitches and straight stitch with centre needle position. All other soles must be used only for straight stitch with left needle position.

Adjusting the height of the foot:

  1. Lower the foot (turn the handwheel to bring the presser bar to the lowest position on the embroidery machine).
  2. Adjust the height of the foot by turning the round nut until the bottom of the foot barely touches top of quilt layers.

Machine settings:

  • Stitch: Straight Stitch (left needle position)
  • Thread tension: Auto
  • Feed dog: Lowered

Sewing:

  1. Sew at medium speed while guiding the quilt layers with your hands. Move the quilt layers 3mm or less per stitch.
  2. Caution: Do not move or pull the quilt layers toward you when sewing with the open sole foot, otherwise the needle can warp and may hit the needle plate to break.

Notes: Use the straight stitch needle plate when sewing with straight stitches. Increase the thread tension to 4-6 when shewing straight stitch with centre needle position.

Sewing with zigzag stitches:

  1. Set the stitch width at 7 or less.
  2. Use the purple tip needle to prevent slip stitches.

Applique Foot

Applique is easier and results are more precise thanks to this foot shorter length at the front and an elevated heel which allow for easy manoeuvring on cures and angles.

Machine settings:

  • Stitch pattern:applique stitches

To attach:

  1. Insert the rear pin of the foot into the rear groove of the foot holder.
  2. Gently lower the presser foot lifter while holding the foot with your finger to fit the foot.

    * Please refer to your machines instruction manual for presser foot attachment and removal information.

To sew:

  1. To turn corners, lower the needle at the outer edge of theapplique and raise the presser foot.
  2. Pivot the fabric around the needle and lower the presser foot.
  3. Start sewing in the new direction.

Ditch Quilting Foot

Use this foot for perfect placement when stitching in the ditch. The guide on the foot can also be used when adding top stitching along seams.

Machine settings:

  • Stitch pattern: Straight stitches (centre needle position)

    * Please refer to your machines instruction manual for presser foot attachment and removal information.

To sew:

Set the folded edge along the presser foot guide and sew with a straight stitch.
