The SMD854 overlocker has been designed with many ease of use features and state of the art capabilities to improve your dressmaking, soft furnishings, etc whilst making it easier and faster. It does this by performing 3 functions at the same time. Feed two layers under the presser foot and your 854 will neatly trim and wrap the edges to prevent fraying and sew a durable seam at the same time. Perfect results every time!!

Convenient Controls
All of the mains controls such as stitch length, differential feed and presser foot lifter are conveniently located on the right side of the machine.

The SMD854 offers complete versatility. Not only will it stitch the popular 3 and 4 thread combinations but the 2 thread spreader means that you have a total of 16 options to choose from.

Electronic Foot Control
Allows you to accurately control the sewing speed. Even at low speeds, this new type of foot control generates less heat than conventional resistor type versions improving long term reliability. Regardless of whether you are sewing lightweights or heavyweights, or whether you are sewing quickly or slowly, the needle-piercing and cutting power is controlled electronically and will remain absolutely consistent.

Lint Tray
Includes large clip-on waste tray to catch the fabric trimmings and keep your work area clean.

Free Arm / Flat Bed
The free arm attachment is not a feature with many overlockers but the SMD854 makes it easy to overlock trouser legs, sleeves, etc. Simply slide the detachable work support to the left to convert from flat bed to free arm.

Easy Threading
Threading the SMD854 overlocker is easy with the threading paths clearly displayed on the front of the machine. With each thread path colour coded, you really cannot go wrong. Even the left looper can be threaded quickly and easily with the thread sliding effortlessly into the looper's thread guide. No need for gizzmos and gadgets!!

Differential Feed
The differential feed adjustment means that by changing the speed between the front and rear feed dogs stops the "waving" of stretch fabrics and the puckering of fine materials, giving perfect even seams.
For fine fabrics, the front feed dog can be adjusted so it moves slower than the rear (as much as half the speed). This has the effect of "stretching" the fabric which prevents the fabric from puckering.
For stretch, speeding the front feed dog up means that the fabric is stitched in a "relaxed" state which will produce a perfectly flat seam. This feature can also be used to give decorative finishes on a variety of fabrics.

Rolled Hemming
The SMD854 has integrated rolled hemming which means no more fiddly changing of needle plates and presser feet. Simply by removing the left needle and retracting the stitch finger allows the SMD854 to sew beautiful rolled hems effortlessly.

Adjustable Foot Pressure
Rather than just one "automatic" foot pressure, the SMD854 overlocker allows you to regulate the pressure down onto the fabric, making it much more versatile. Delicate lightweight fabrics can be stitched on the minimum setting, avoiding the possibility of marking the fabric. For heavyweights, turn the foot pressure to the maximum allowing the feed dogs to get maximum grip resulting in perfect even stitches. Factory setting is for medium to heavy fabrics.

Safety First
The SMD854 incorporates a built in micro switch which is activated as soon as the front door is opened. Although the light remains illuminated for threading, the power to the motor is switched off preventing the machine from being accidentally operated.

Convenient Storage
The concealed drawer incorporated into the body of the SMD854 overlocker contains the standard accessories. Tweezers, screwdrivers, lint brush, etc always on hand.

Quick Release Foot Holder
To change the presser foot, simply lift the lever and activate the button and the foot will detach. To attach the another foot, line the foot up with the foot holder and lower the presser bar. Easy!!
